Iftikhar is one of the founding members of Open and has served Open for 10 years. He has been with Viisage since 1995 and served in various executive positions as Director Engineering, VP Engineering, EVP & GM and an officer of Viisage before it was acquired and transformed to L-1 Identity Solutions with Viisage becoming the Credentials Division of L-1. He has P&L responsibility of Viisage's State & Local Government business that generates about 50% of Viisage's revenue and provides end-to-end identity solutions that include driver license & ID systems, document authentication, biometrics (face recognition & fingerprinting), knowledge & skills testing systems, etc. These solutions are provided to nearly 20 state DMV and several law enforcement & corrections agencies.

With over 32 years of business, project, product and plant management experience, he has for the last 25 years led the deployment of complex systems integration programs that included  large and complex mission critical systems for fortune 500 companies and public/government sector. Prior to joining Viisage, he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation for nine years under various engineering capacities. He started his career as an Assistant Professor at an engineering college where he taught for 3 years. He also ran his own electronics assembly business for about 4 years. For another 4 years he worked as Engineering Manager at PIDC, a quasi-government organization.

Iftikhar holds a MS - Engineering, University of Massachusetts, Amherst; BE - University of Karachi, Pakistan and has attended extensive Executive Management and Client/Server Development courses/programs. He has several publications on automated/robotic assembly and is a co-author of a book called "Production Software That Works, A Guide to Concurrent Development of Real-time Manufacturing Systems" (Digital Press, 1992).
